7 A Day

Open up social media. Turn on the news. Listen to the radio. Read the paper. No matter where you look you are going to be bombarded with negativity. You do not have to try hard to find something that can bring you down and remind you that we live in a fallen, sin-stained world.

It may seem like things are getting worse, but the truth is this world has been awful for a long time. Solomon knew it.

“That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

David saw it in his day.

“It is time for You to act, O Lord,
For they have regarded Your law as void.” Psalm 119:126

“I see the treacherous, and am disgusted,
Because they do not keep Your word.” Psalm 119:158

And he was deeply grieved over it.

“Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
Because men do not keep Your law.” Psalm 119:136

If we are not careful we can become so consumed by the negativity that we forget there is still good news. We can forget to look for the blessings that God provides. We can forget to remind others of the wonders of our Lord.

David could have been this way. He was surrounded by hurt and loss. He was aware of so much evil in his day and even of his own sins. David could have become consumed with negativity and ready to give up. But no. What did David do instead?

He praised God!

“Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your righteous judgments.”
Psalm 119:164

Let’s take part in the 7 A Day Praise Challenge. Let’s be more like the man after God’s own heart and look every day for the good to be found. Let us not be consumed with all that could tear us down and defeat us, but rather purposefully be on the lookout for blessings all around us.

Won’t you join me! Every day look for at least seven times you can Praise God! Not only will you be noticing the positive and dwelling less on the negative, but at least seven times a day you will be acknowledging and communicating with the Father. You will be training your heart and mind to recognize Him in all things.

Even in a world that seems so overrun by sinfulness, I promise you there are blessings and positives to be found! I pray you can find your seven and then some every day!

You, my sweet sister, are one of my blessings and I praise God for you in my life!
